Pooler is where the Savannah area has been putting its growth. The Census counted 25,711 residents and 11,102 housing units in 2020, and the estimate for July 2025 was 32,744, twenty-seven percent above the count. Only thirty-three of those homes were held for seasonal or occasional use.
What is arriving here is households rather than second homes, and where Pooler sits explains most of it. I-95 meets I-16 in the city, exits 102 and 104 feed straight into it, and Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is close enough that the city describes itself as within two miles of it. US 80 and GA 26 run through as well.
The roads are new; the town is not. Pooler took the name of Captain Robert William Pooler in 1838 and incorporated in 1907. The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force stands at 175 Bourne Avenue.
That museum draws people from well beyond Georgia, telling the story of the bomber crews who flew out of England. Much of what has been built since is for the people who live here. Tom Triplett Park covers around two hundred acres at 100 Tom Triplett Road with a nineteen-acre lake, trails, fishing and disc golf.
The Pooler Recreation Complex at 200 Preston Stokes Drive carries the stadium, ballfields and courts, and there is a children’s museum. Savannah-Chatham County Public School System serves the city.
The jobs came with the roads. Pooler’s employers run across manufacturing, logistics, retail and services, and the city’s 2024 financial report names JCB at 973 employees, Amazon at 601, Publix at 369, the Walmart Supercenter at 329 and Kerby Enterprises at 250, with its comprehensive plan adding the Gulfstream aerospace facilities directly off Pooler Parkway.
