Home Alarms – How to choose the right Home Alarm system

Home Alarms

Home alarm system is one of the best ways to protect your family, your home, and your belongings.
There are lots of home alarms out on the market.
Many Home Alarms systems are affordable and many Home Alarms are effective, but it's hard to tell which security system or burglar alarm system is the best for your home.
Also, the home alarms security system is a highly exploitable market—hundreds of consumers get scammed every year by “trunk slammers” and other wily dealers.
For my new home I’ve purchased an alarm system by a company called GreatAlarms (add a linkable banner at the top of the page) they provide a great service and it’s one of the cheapest offers I got for monitored home alarms.
When you purchase a home alarm system, there are many features and options to choose from, which can make your decision quite difficult.
Understanding the function of each feature and accessing your home's need for that particular type of protection is the best way to decide which features are right for your home
Points to consider when reviewing Home Alarms systems:
·         Know the home alarms basic components. And what they do.
You’ll definitely need a control panel, door and window contacts, and sirens or alarms. You might want motion detectors, cameras, glass break sensors and additional security keypads

·         Survey your home
Walk around the perimeter of your home as if you were a burglar. Take note of any likely entry points and what you need to invest in to secure them. Look for low windows, exterior man doors and second story windows that can be reached by climbing. This is not to replace home review by home alarms specialist, but to help you to guide him through his review

·         Talk to several home alarms companies. See if they will come to your home and take a look at your home and do some risk assessment. Ask them where they see problems and what they would do about it

·         Local home alarm systems (those which sound only on the protected premises) are much less effective, especially when local ordinances limit the time for which the signal can sound to avoid nuisance disturbance of neighbors. If you invest in such an alarm, you are counting on conscientious neighbors to call the police to respond. Having the signals from your alarm system monitored by a licensed vendor better assures that you get the protection you pay for when you install an alarm system

·         Get quotes. Get an estimate in writing. Make sure they include costs for equipment, setup, responses, monthly monitoring fees and warranties

·         If you are hiring out to have your home alarms installed, always use a licensed vendor to install, repair, or service an alarm system. While licenses do not guarantee honesty, it does indicate that the vendor has registered with the state, and has met the specified minimum criteria for your locale. In most cases, a license is predicated upon proof of adequate insurance and/or bonding, so you have that protection as well

·         Get some references. A good company will have some customers willing to be contacted as references (or you can ask a friend). Ask if the system was installed in the quoted timeframe, if contracts were clear and explained well, if the customer service is courteous and readily available, if they’ve ever had a break-in and how quickly the company responded

·         Research the home alarms equipment. Most companies get their hardware from a certain company. Ask what they’ll be installing and go on the internet and find some reviews. Read about specific units. Gather opinions from several different websites

·         Home Alarm systems are electro-mechanical devices subject to failure, and must be tested regularly to ensure they work as designed. Set up a test schedule with your vendor or Alarm Company; at least once monthly is highly recommended. If your alarm is a wireless system make sure it is self monitoring and will signal you if a battery is low

·         Sleep on it
Representatives may seem very excited and that can get infectious, Bbt be firm and mull it over for awhile - Don’t sign anything on the spot
